Glenn Bourke, CEO of Hamilton Island, has announced today that the 2012 PGA Professionals Championship Final will be contested at Hamilton Island Golf Club from 12th – 16th November, 2012.

The PGA announced the new venue this morning, with participants from across Australia working to earn a place in the field via a series of state qualifying events. $50,000 in prize money is on offer, but golfers will have to work hard for it. The course on Dent Island, a 5 minute ferry ride from Hamilton Island, is listed at number 14 in Australia’s Top 100 Public Access Golf Courses in 2011. The Peter Thomson designed golf course will provide a real test for the 50 qualifying Professionals, whilst also boasting breathtaking island views.

Glenn Bourke says he is looking forward to hosting the championship and delivering what he hopes will be the first of many successful, world class golfing events on Hamilton Island.

“The Hamilton Island Golf Club is delighted to be the official venue for the PGA Professionals Championship. The tournament allows PGA Vocational Members the opportunity to compete with their peers in actual tournament play, for a national title, at a world class golf course and stay in a world class resort,” he said.
