Over the last few weeks we have spotted many familiar faces as the 2012 Good Food Guides were released. We were delighted to see Peter Gilmour from Quay taking out Chef of the Year in Sydney while Attica & Ben Shrewry took out Best Restaurant in Melbourne.
Of course neither of these talents are strangers to Hamilton Island having both featured as guest chefs during Hamilton Island Great Barrier Feast Food and Wine Series at qualia over the past two years. Other Great Barrier Feast Food and Wine Series alumni featuring in the Good Food Guides included Shannon Bennett with the new-look Vue De Monde and Frank Camorra with his tapas at MoVida, and Justin North’s Bécasse alongside Tetsuya’s (of course) all with two hats.
Personally I was excited to see Dan Hunter featuring again (2011 Best Restaurant for the Royal Mail Hotel in Dunkeld, and 2012 Best Chef, Melbourne) as he is the next chef to feature at Great Barrier Feast on December 2-4, 2011. I can’t wait!
