Birthday Bliss at Spa qualia

I found heaven on earth at spa qualia. As a birthday treat, my other half and I treated ourselves to a Wine Lovers spa ritual. How appropriate! The treatment rooms at the day spa at qualia are lovely, and enormous, and beautifully quiet and private (with the cold southerly blowing I ruled the line at the outdoor shower this time around – purple is such an unattractive colour!). And so we settled for three hours of bliss (one for each child I thought to myself in an ‘I deserve this’ sort of tone!). Then I stopped thinking.

Spa qualia has won numerous awards including the Australian Gourmet Traveller Magazine: Best Spa awardfor the third year running. It is well known for the natural, Australian products it uses from Sodashi and LI’TYA.

Today we were treated to the works, and all with grape-vine-wine scents to boot: Chardonnay massage, vinothérapie body scrub, pinot noir body scrub, pinot noir/champagne body mask, petite facial, drifting scalp massage, and aburgundy bath soak.

Just staying awake during the scalp massage was hard yakka, let me tell you, and then relaxing in that enormous bath with a fresh fruit platter and a bottle of bubbly was absolute bliss even without the pampering that had come before.

We left the spa in a little bubble of bliss, floating down to Pebble Beach for a light lunch and yet another glass of champagne. This state of bliss lasted until the said three children arrived back home from school and the real world so rudely intruded.

I have decided though – next time I take a vacation it will be a spa holiday all the way.
