Bartenders Get UGLY

Brad Henstock, manager of the R-Bar (which is the Hamilton Island staff bar) is taking part in the Leukaemia Foundation of Queensland’s 2012 UGLY bartender of the year competition .

UGLY stands for “Understanding, Generous, Likeable, You”, and is a fundraising competition run statewide in pubs, hotels, sporting clubs and RSLs with proceeds benefiting patients and their families living with leukaemias, lymphomas, myeloma and related blood disorders.

Brad is one of 35 bartenders from the Mackay and Whitsunday region who are getting creative in their venues to raise funds for the leukaemia cause though sponsorship and donations from their local community.

The Leukaemia Foundation of Queensland is a not-for-profit organisation that receives no ongoing government funding and relies on the support of individuals and corporate partners to fund research projects and provide care and support, free of charge, to patients and their families including transportation, accommodation and counselling.
